*In the event of rain, the parade of the festival floats will be cancelled. If it is cancelled, please enjoy an old historical town, Takayama on your own.

*This tour is operated by a Japanese tour guide in Japanese. For foreign visitors, English speaking staff will accompany during the tour. English and Chinese tourist information handout will be provided, too.

*Infant (0-1 year old) cannot participate as the seat-belt cannot be fastened securely and properly.

★Being expected heavy traffic congestion, Takayama Civic Cultural Center parking lot is 20 mins walk to the festival venue. On your way back, please take the free shuttle bus at Takayama Civic Cultural Center bound for Sukyo Mahikari Parking lot on your own. It would also take approximately 20 min as well.

A city that has become the largest city in Japan since 2005, Takayama, and its area is equivalent to entire Tokyo metropolis. Since Tayakama used to be a capital of Hida-no-kuni province, it is often called a small Kyoto of Hida Region. The city of which the traditional merchants’ culture is still alive even today has various tourist attractions.


Morning market "Asaichi"

A composed of more than 60 stalls selling various fresh vegetables, fruits, and Japanese pickled vegetables on the 350-meter (1148 ft) long river side of Miyagawa River that floats in the center of the city.

Takayama Jinya

This used to be a local governor’s office during the Edo period (1603 – 1868.) There once were more than 60 buildings similar to Takayama Jinya in Japan, however it is the only one existing today.

Sightseeing Rickshaw

Rickshaw or Jinriki-sha is a traditional, small and light vehicle with two wheels that is pulled by one person on foot. Ride a rickshaw and enjoy the view of the old town with the energetic and tough rickshaw guy’s guidance! (4,000 yen~/15 minutes for 2 persons~)

Takayama Showa Museum

Let’s experience and learn what Japan looked like in 1950s-1960s of Showa Era (1926-1989)! Lose yourself among the delightful mishmash of endless objects, from movie posters to cars and everything between, lovingly presented in a series of themed rooms.

Takayama is also known for its delicious local cuisines. Here is just a few of the recommended foods.

The Spring Takayama Festival (Sanno Matsuri) is an annual festival which is held every April 14 and 15. Thousands of people come to Takayama for its spring festival.This event is regarded as one of the three most beautiful festivals in Japan.

Hundreds of people dress in traditional costumes like samurai costume and walk around the festival area. You can enjoy the Festival Parade, display of 12 festival floats, and Karakuri marionette performances during the daytime. For night time, Yomatsuri is held on the night of the 14th.

The Spring Takayama Festival (Sanno Matsuri) is one of two parts for the Takayama Matsuri, the other being held in autumn (Hachiman Matsuri).

1. Please be advised that this tour is designed for Japanese citizens and basically operated by a Japanese tour guide in Japanese. For foreign visitors, English or Chinese tourist information handout will be provided, too.
2. The customers cannot request any specific seat, and generally the foreign visitors will be seated at the back of the bus for convenience. A group with more than 10 people may be asked to be assigned to the seats at the back. Additionally, if the customers apply with an odd number of people, they may be asked to be seated next to the other guest.
3. Depending on the weather conditions, the tour may be cancelled. In this case, we will inform you about it by email and on Facebook by a day before your tour date.
4. The tour itinerary may need to be adjusted and the returning time may be delayed due to traffic or weather conditions.
5. Refunds will not be given to any of the changes, such as shortening time of stay, or altering the tour itinerary due to aforementioned reasons.
6. No alternative menu is available on the lunch menu for any grounds such as allergy for a specific food, religious or vegetarian reasons. (If meals are included in the tour, there are no alternative menu available).
